Name: Manon
Job: Segment Manager Industry, Logistics & Transportation

What does a Segment Manager do at Axians?

As Segment Manager for Industry & Utilities, and Transportation & Logistics, I’m basically the go-to person for everything that touches our customers in these sectors. I work with a fantastic team of nine colleagues - spanning sales, service management, and project delivery - and together we make sure our customers are not just satisfied, but genuinely excited to work with us. My days are never the same. One moment I’m deep in a strategic discussion about long-term goals, and the next I’m helping to solve a practical issue in a customer project. I keep an eye on contracts, financials, and timelines, but also love the creative side - like brainstorming with marketing or aligning with suppliers to bring new ideas to life.

Here’s what a day in Manon's life looks like!

8:30-9AM:
I live close to the office, so I try to work on-site about four days a week. Being physically present helps me stay connected with my team and keeps communication flowing naturally. I usually arrive around 8:30 AM, grab a coffee, and catch up with colleagues - often chatting about our weekends or sharing a laugh before the day kicks off.

Before 9:00 AM, I like to take a few quiet moments to open my laptop, check my calendar, and scan through emails for urgent matters in the team or at a client’s project.

9-10AM:
Monday mornings begin with a sales forecast meeting. I sit down together with our sales team where we review current opportunities, assess progress, and align on priorities for the week.

This meeting is more than just numbers - it’s about strategy, collaboration, and making sure we’re all heading in the same direction.

10-11AM:
After the forecast, I take some time to respond to emails and tackle a few items on my to-do list. Then I join a project meeting with a cross-functional team working on a customer implementation.

These sessions are where the real magic happens: we discuss progress, identify blockers, and brainstorm solutions. It’s a great example of how technical and business perspectives come together to deliver value to our clients.

11AM-12PM:
Once a month, I host a segment team meeting with colleagues from different disciplines. We share updates on customer developments, upcoming events, and internal initiatives.

Even if someone isn’t directly involved in a project, these updates help everyone stay informed and better equipped to support clients. It’s also a great way to foster a sense of community and shared purpose.

12-1PM:
We don’t have a cafeteria at our office, so lunch is often a walk to the nearby supermarket with a few colleagues. We bring our food back to the office and eat together - sometimes discussing work, sometimes just enjoying each other’s company.

These informal moments are just as important as meetings.

1-2PM:
After lunch, I meet with our marketing team to plan an upcoming industry event. We discuss everything from booth design to who will represent us at the fair.

It’s a creative and collaborative process that blends branding, logistics, and customer engagement. I enjoy stepping into this more visual and strategic side of the business.

2-3PM:
This is a quieter hour where I catch up on emails, follow up on action items, and check in with team members who drop by for a quick chat.

3-4PM:
In the afternoon, I join a meeting with a client manager and engineer to finalize a proposal. Right after, I meet with a new customer and their procurement team to discuss the terms of an offer.

4-5PM:
The final meeting of the day is a catch-up call on a tender we’re working on. We align with the internal team, review progress, and make decisions on next steps.

It’s a fast-paced, detail-oriented discussion but also energizing. I love seeing how everyone brings their expertise to the table.

5-6PM:
Before heading home, I take time to review my notes, schedule follow-ups, and prepare for tomorrow. My to-do list usually grows throughout the day, but I try to end with a sense of order and readiness.

As I leave, I say goodbye to the last colleagues in the office.

How do you unwind at the end of the day?

To help unwind it helps to relax with a book or a good series. But above all it helps to go and play volleyball. It helps to clear my head and release some energy.
